This past week here in coastal Connecticut has been brutal! We have had over seven days in a row of sunny, hot, and humid weather, with no relief in sight. When it is so sticky outside the last thing I want to do is pile on the many layers of skincare, not to mention the sunscreen. But at the same time, I do not want to abandon my routine for the summer months. Usually I switch to a moisturizing sun block and that does get the job done. However, I have recently been trying some new water and gel creams that hydrate without the heavy feeling of a thick moisturizer. Some brands call them “cloud creams” and some are referred to as “gel lotions” but they all do the same thing: provide light-weight, hydrating moisture that absorbs quickly and doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. During the past few weeks I have been experimenting with a few new options, one of which came to me in my June Allure Beauty Box. The True Cream Water Bomb by Belif is a new fave (and was the inspiration for this post). Old favorites include the Clinique Moisture Surge, Tatcha’s The Water Cream and Paula’s Choice Water-Infusing Electrolyte Moisturizer. The remaining options below are ones that were recommended to me (thanks Amy!), or I have come across in other beauty reviews and sites (of course, Gothamista). Do your skin a favor and have it drink in one of these moisturizers this summer.
