As you all know by now, I love to shop (that is one of the reasons I started this blog). I share a walk-in closet with my husband, so finding space for my online purchases is always a challenge. I never have enough hanging space for dresses, or shelves for shoes, so I am forever de-cluttering.
Enter Polly Goodyear. Polly and I met a few years ago through a mutual friend who wanted her two “blogger friends” to connect (coincidentally, both Polly and I also go to the same barre studio too). In addition to being a personal stylist, Polly also happens to write a fashion blog called Polly’s Picks. And although her business Styled, by Polly Goodyear, focuses mainly on wardrobe styling she offers much more than just personal shopping. Some of her services include closet therapy (think strategic purging), special event styling, and even “shop your own closet” where she creates a lookbook of items you already own.
So, armed with this information I invited her to coffee after a workout and started to pick her brain. We got to talking about dining outside and the challenge to stay warm while still looking good (aka, not resembling a grizzly bear at the table). She agreed to give my closet a good picking over and help me put together some warm and layered options for my next chilly date night. Full disclosure, I may have also encouraged her to show me some of her favorites from her closet as well (note the fabulous ALC coat in the photo). She also brought over some cashmere tees, layering pieces, and a stunning Ulla Johnson Martina shawl. One clever idea she had: invest in a warm sweater with a built-in scarf for warmth (brilliant)! At the end of the day, I had some new outfits styled, a few items to donate, and possibly a new fringed shawl in my online shopping cart!
