My morning skincare routine is thankfully shorter than the 10-step procedure I go through each night. Before bed I focus more on cleansing, treating and moisturizing. In the AM I don’t feel like I have to cleanse as much, so it’s more prepping for the day ahead. I start off wiping my Bioderma micellar water over my face with a cotton pad– nothing too crazy or ph disruptive. Next, I use an essence toner, like the Cosrx Power Essence. A skincare expert once compared the use of a toner to the moistening of a sponge: it preps the skin to better absorb all of the skincare to come. After toner comes the most important part- the vitamin C serum. Currently, I am using Maelove’s The Glow Maker, but I have also used versions from Drunk Elephant and Timeless. I let the serum absorb and then pat on hyaluronic acid (like the Inkey List version) and then some face oil. I alternate between the Joanna Vargas and CeraVe gel oil. The last two steps can usually be combined into one: moisturizing and applying SPF. I love Supergoop, Paula’s Choice and Elta MD as options (sometimes when my skin is really dry I apply moisturizer before the SPF, usually the Embryolisse or Paula’s Choice water-infusing moisturizer). Check out my choices and some other trusted options as well. Here’s to happy skin.
