Goodbye Halloween and hello to Thanksgiving! For the first time in years, we are not going to have Thanksgiving with my extended family. Despite challenging hockey schedules and miles living apart, we always make the drive to share Thanksgiving with my relatives. For obvious reasons, this year we are choosing to stay home in Darien, celebrating as a family of five. I am upset about this, not only because I will now have to provide the meal, but also because we will not see some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins that we see once a year.
Instead of dreading this ambitious meal endeavor, I am embracing the challenge and preparing to go all out! I will be setting a festive table, cooking the meal (with some carry-out help duh), serving up the feast, and promptly collapsing on the couch when it is all over (glass of wine in hand). After scrolling through Pinterest, I have settled on a simple tablescape with white and gold pumpkins, some eucalyptus fronds, pinecones, and candles. I picked up a strand of tiny acorn lights too and may weave them through the finished look. I think I will be thankful when it’s all over!
