“Working in India with locally grown cotton and silk, the D’ASCOLI collection is made using ancient and modern techniques such as weaving, digital printing, and hand embroidery. This fusion captures a bohemian aesthetic both contemporary and timeless. Small batch production offers an alternative to the impersonal, mass-produced, fast-fashion standard that so many of us have grown disenchanted with. We represent a new model for the business of fashion that is sustainable and socially responsible.”
In honor of Earth Day, I thought it would be appropriate to highlight one of my favorite sustainable brands: D’Ascoli. I was first introduced to D’Ascoli last summer when I became obsessed with their bohemian style dresses, unique with their stitched floral patterns and soft cotton feel. I found that I could wear my one dress out to dinner with my husband, to the beach for a picnic and even running errands. They are comfortable, casual and elegant all at the same time. When I went to their website to see the latest collection I was happily surprised to discover that they are also a proponent of sustainable fashion. Of course I follow the D’Ascoli instagram account which frequently features the hand dyed fabrics in the many stages of production, waiting to be sewn into a garment or hemmed to create their beautiful table linens. Let’s get real, I will need a nice flowy dress come summer after my Corona-vacation cookie baking. At least I can look stylish while covering up! My fave is the Melrose, which pattern speaks to you? D’Ascoli is available online exclusively at Matches Fashion.
