It’s just about this time each summer that I start to look for cocktails to rotate in with my trusted rosés– and I have found a few new drinks to take me into early fall. First up is the Lillet Spritz which was introduced to me by my friend JM when we had drinks and sushi to celebrate my birthday. This delicious and refreshing spritz is made with Lillet Blanc, a French aperitif made with a blend of wines, fruit macerations, and botanicals. The website drinkinghobby.com describes its taste as “a crisp white wine with a mild honey sweetness complimented by orange, delicate spring flowers, and golden raisins.” And I am here for it!
The second drink is made with only 2 ingredients and it doesn’t get much easier than that! The Wray & Ting is simply a yummy overproof white Jamaican rum and grapefruit soda combination. Finding these ingredients will be the hardest part of this recipe- but there are some substitutes if necessary. You can grab the Ting on Amazon and the Wray & Nephew rum is carried on wine.com or in most large liquor stores (sub in Rum Fire from totalwine.com if you cannot find it). The flavorful rum which tastes like overripe bananas, vanilla, and tropical fruits is mixed with the bitter grapefruit soda and is so so good. Also, the overproof rum has a high alcohol content so go slowly. Thank you, Jamaica!
While we are on the subject of rum, let’s make a Daiquiri! And this recipe has only 3 ingredients, so buy some extra Wray & Nephew rum and jazz up this Classic Daiquiri drink. Summer never tasted so good.
