In an effort to keep my mind sharp, I like to do puzzles– crossword, Sudoku and the good old-fashioned jigsaw kind. Last spring my husband and I were given a Liberty Puzzle by a friend and an obsession was born. She explained how these puzzles are unique because they are comprised of custom shaped wooden pieces called “whimsy pieces” (a sign? I think so). These whimsy pieces are not arbitrary forms, but rather cut shapes of identifiable objects such as animals, people, characters and more. They are like little pieces of art within art! We decided to give this new puzzle a shot, and one rainy weekend found ourselves huddled over our game table for hours. We pried the Fortnite control out of our son’s hands and he actually spent some quality time fitting pieces together with us. These puzzles are addicting, to say the least.
