I am getting ready for Mother’s Day in a few weeks, picking out gifts for my mom Mary, or Momo as she is known to my kids. Above is one of my favorite photos of her with my youngest son, taken on July 4th, 2009, waiting for some fireworks to begin. She and my dad live near enough that we are able to see each other often and maintain close relationships. Love you, Mom! Below are some gifts that I am thinking about for her special day on May 12th.  I still talk to her almost every day on the phone, and recently over facetime. She has her first iPhone and still has yet to get a protective case. I picked out this cherry blossom iPhone cover for her since she loves her flowers! While I am impressed that she finally got rid of her flip phone, she still uses styrofoam cups! When she wants to take her morning coffee in the car, she pulls out one of those white crumbly lidded containers. Not anymore- she is getting this cute travel coffee mug and I will toss those disposable cups in the garbage! Since we spend a lot more time together at our beach house, the handmade candle will be a nice touch this August. I think my favorite finds are the brass elephants. She is an active and passionate supporter of The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. The Sanctuary is currently home to 10 elephants retired from zoos and circuses, many of whom suffer long-term health and behavioral issues common to elephants that have spent their lives in captivity. For Christmas, she always asks for donations in lieu of any gifts. These brass elephants will be a nice reminder of her dedication to this foundation. I also selected some products that would work well for my sister (Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial and initial necklace) or any of my mom friends (“I Mom So Hard” book). What will you get for the other moms in your life?
