My attachment to the J.Crew brand has not waned since I left the company back in 2001 to have our first baby. I still keep in touch with co-workers and friends through social media and in person (a few live in Darien), and I still look forward to any type of printed catalog or lookbook that might land in my mailbox. I think we all have a bit of history with J.Crew clothing, like the original Rollneck sweater, chinos, colorful bathing suits, or the more recent chunky accessories a la Jenna Lyons. Throughout the last few decades, the brand has had its ups and downs and yet remained classic, preppy, and timeless all the while. To celebrate this milestone, J.Crew has launched a 40th-anniversary spring campaign that pays tribute to the heritage of the brand throughout the years–think “elevated classics, mood-boosting color, rugby stripes” and the revamped 2023 Rollneck. I also loved this look back at J.Crew Icons by decade. See any familiar old catalog covers?
