Last month, I decided to sell some of my clothes on the luxury consignment site, The Real Real. This brand buys and re-sells high-end items, such as apparel, shoes, accessories, handbags, jewelry, and home goods, and guarantees authenticity. I have purchased items from TRR before (such good deals) but have never used their consignment services. Making an appointment was so easy: with just a few clicks, I set up a time with one of their associates to come to our house and look through the items I wanted to consign. I had pulled out pieces that were on their Accepted Designers list, which was so helpful. Dawn was nice and patient with me as we sorted through the piles, saying goodbye to the stilettos and tight dresses. She explained the process (which is all very transparent and done on the website for ease and simplicity) and reviewed the timeline. It’s been about a month since she picked up my consignments (43 total), and all are now listed on the site (with a few already sold!). I highly recommend this service, especially if you have some nice pieces that are in good shape. They often have great incentives to consign, like merchandise and referral credit (tell them I sent you). Not only do I feel a little better about contributing to sustainable fashion, but it’s also nice to have more room in the closet!
