Person-to-Person is a Darien based not for profit organization that is important to both me and my husband. What is P2P? The mission statement is simple: Person-to-Person provides individuals and families with assistance for basic needs to overcome daily challenges and access to resources to improve their lives. When we first moved to Darien, I joined the OPUS organization, a fundraising arm of Person-to-Person. I met so many of my Darien friends through my involvement in this group, and credit it with introducing me to P2P and the field of philanthropy. Within OPUS I rose to Vice-President, which earned me an automatic seat on the P2P Board of Directors. I went on to spend 8 years on the Board, retiring in 2008, when my husband was recruited to take my place. He has remained on the Board until this day where he is in his fourth year as Board Treasurer. So, as a family, we are devoted to Person-to-Person and the communities they serve. Together we support this organization wholeheartedly: we donate our gently used clothing, volunteer in the food pantry and clothing center, and spend time promoting and fundraising for the organization. Another way we are supporting Person-to-Person is through AmazonSmile. AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you- it’s a no-brainer! Since I shop from Amazon weekly, my contribution adds up quickly. To learn how easy it is, click here to set up your AmazonSmile charity–and please consider P2P!
